Tauko Magazine - Issue No. 4

For our 4th issue we are slowing down and take a look at what grows right next to our feet. The issue is dedicated to the fungi world, understanding mycorrhiza and introducing the basics for creating natural dyes with mushrooms. The magazine features 10 sewing patterns by independent designers inspired by the fungi and plant world. Making use of soft linen, wool, poplin and hand dyed fabrics the dresses, trousers and jackets come with many variations for differently skilled sewists.

All the designs are available in the Issue No. 4 with actual size patterns and step by step guidelines. The patterns come in 9 sizes, from bust width 31” / 78cm to 57.5” / 146cm.

TAUKO is a 128-page collectable that measures in at 275mm high x 215mm wide. There are four folded paper pattern sheets included with the magazine. It is printed in Estonia with a glue and stitch binding to secure durability and easy reading.

TAUKO Magazine is a pioneering independent print publication for home sewists and fashion and culture lovers, who have a big heart for the planet. It has its headquarters in Helsinki and Berlin and is founded and published by art researchers, fashion designers, makers, and passionate fighters for planetary wellbeing, Kaisa Rissanen and Mila Moisio.

Each issue features more than 10 sewing pattern designs created by celebrities and newcomers from the sewing community. A carefully curated selection makes design clothing accessible to anyone willing to try out sewing and learn new skills. With actual-size paper patterns, easy guidelines, agile images, and illustrations, we wish to make the sewing experience empowering, exciting and fun.

TAUKO Magazine continues our story of finding new, regenerative, and empowering ways to celebrate design and clothes. It’s a start for positive system change.  TAUKO stands for a break or a pause in Finnish. It describes a strong, silent, and still movement that is almost impossible to notice.
