This special silk is an extremely rare find, for the fabric collector.

This roll of fabric began as a historic 16th-century Japanese-made 100% silk Kimono. As part of a not-for-profit drive, our Japanese supplier sends this to Mongolia to provide employment for displaced women. They unpick the kimono seams and put the cuts back on a roll. Before they are re-rolled they are washed with delicate fabric brighter and restored as closely to their original quality. A traditionally hand-woven and hand-dyed silk chirimen crepe it is hand-printed from an original dye-cut with a beautiful geometric design in clementine orange and outlined in black against a cream cloth. It has accents of ochre, gold and blue.

This has many uses, could be an art piece, a wall hanging or repurposed into a garment.

Despite its age, this roll is in wonderful condition, but see imperfections below.
