Did someone say whimsical Wool Gauze?

We're on the topic of wool gauze this week, and know that elevated and luxurious aren’t the first words to pop to mind. Yet we’re sure after reading this, you’ll think differently, and to help you visualise a world of opulence and acute detailing, we’re looking towards whimsical French luxury brand Chloé.
Made out of pure wool, Italian wool gauze is a lightweight fabric, slightly sheer and with mechanical stretch. It's tightly woven and holds structure exceptionally well; think pleats, gathers and billowing sleeves. Coming in a full variety in our Italian Designer Deadstock range, we bring you slubbed design, melange surface, pick and pick as well as a woven check print. Its grounds for a designers dream.
Paired with a list of our favourite looks from the eternally stylish brand Chloé, who may or may not have jumped the gun first, and reached into the very depths of our brain when sourcing this fine range of delectable wool gauzes, it's a selection of sweet pieces. You can thanks us later…

The semi-sheer finish makes our ex-designer wool gauze perfect for a beautifully chic layering piece - ideal as a dreamy, voluminous shirt or dress that can be worn by itself on a sunny winters day or over the top of a merino or cotton knit layer for some added warmth and an interesting silhouette. Think something like this gorge Chloé raglan blouse with a gathered neck and bell sleeve.

With its light and papery texture, wool gauze is versatile enough to hold a soft and structural gather or a crisp pleat. We’re loving these whimsical and romantic pieces from Chloé with heavy gathering and pin-tucks. Even try your hand at some shirring for a more sweet, cottage-core look and feel that summer vibe even when the weather is at its coldest!

A natural crush-resistance makes a wool gauze perfect for travelling or for those mornings when you’re just not feeling like ironing and need to look fresh and crisp all day. A pair of classic suit pants is a must-have in every wardrobe, and whether it be a wide-leg pair with a fine pin tuck like this Chloé number or a tapered fit with waist-pleating like our Tolve pattern (available here), wool gauze is an ideal fabric to make them in.

Think bias cut skirts and dresses are only possible in slinky silks and viscoses, relegated to the summer months? Think again. The light-weight finish and mechanical stretch ensures this wool gauze will fall beautifully on the cross, giving you that timelessly chic silhouette even in the coldest of winter months. Go structural and avant garde like this wool-gauze-and-leather Chloé dress or something more classic like the Liam Carol bias slip dress (available here).

If you’re wanting to inject a bit more colour and fun/creativity into these dreary winter days, here’s your go-ahead to get a bit crazy with some of our Eco Dyes. Try out some Shibori techniques with string or rubber bands or get out some sponges and a paintbrush or two and let your creativity fly. Dilute the dye for a watercolour effect or use some sodium alginate for a more paint-like consistency and get crazy like this this beautiful Chloé floral-print shirt.
