We're big on Broderie!

Despite its French title, Broderie Anglaise, which translates to English Embroidery, originated in eastern Europe in the early 16th Century but was aptly named after its height of popularity in England during the 1800's.

Originally created using embroidery stilettos, which manually punched each hole in the fabric, Broderie Anglaise is the formation of small, thread bordered eyelets and surrounding embroidery usually depicting flowers, leaves and vines.

A staple for any Summer wardrobe, Broderie Anglaise classically appears on a cotton base cloth, and is known for its timeless design. Creating a beautiful but subtle effect by utilising matching thread embroidery, it can also be dyed to create an interesting contrast effect (as embroidery thread is typically polyester).
