MAKES BY US: BRESSO BY GLORIA
Sydney sweetheart Gloria makes up Drapers Bresso shirt in Claudia printed cotton. She takes us through all the finer details, and makes whipping together a sleeve placket, mandarin collar and spaghetti strap look easy.

 FABRIC

Gloria has opted for the cutest cotton print, Claudia.

MANDARIN COLLAR

We know that collars can be intimidating, so Gloria has shared with us a few of her top tips!

1. Press before you sew! Making sure that you press the side of your collar that will be top stitched down ensures that you'll eliminate the fiddling.

2. Trim! The excess seam should be trimmed to reduce any balk.

SLEEVE PLACKET

Gloria takes us through a step by step of how she effortlessly sews a sleeve placket. It's a process that involves lots of folding, flipping and careful maneuvering. For the full video run down on how we like to sew our plackets, find a step by step tutorial in our Instagram reels.

SPAGHETTI STRAP

Work smarter not harder! Gloria shows us how it's done by using our bias binding maker to sew the easiest spaghetti straps. Simply use the bias binding maker as normal, and sew down both sides of the raw seam. Next you're going to cut right down the middle in between your stitch lines and voilà! Simply thread through your loop turner and watch the magic. We're loving the way that Gloria added small ties to the collar and cuffs for that delicate touch. If you need any other reason to give the Bresso shirt a go hear what Gloria has to say... "The Bresso shirt was really simple to sew, though I have made a shirt before so I followed the written instructions for a refresher on how to do the sleeve placket, cuff and yoke."

And if you're unsure on what fabric to start with, here's Gloria's take... "The Claudia fabric was easy to work with even though it’s so fine. and I liked how many options came in the Bresso pattern pack - from the different silhouette options in the dress/shirt/cropped patterns to the different collar styles that were possible. It was also easy to add my own details like the little ties at collar and sleeve, and used flat felled seams at the armhole and side seam so I didn’t have to use the overlocker."
