MEET THE TEAM: HUGO
Meet the Team; a series dedicated to our incredible staff so you can get to know a little more about those who work behind the scenes (and the counters) to bring you the Drapers you know and love.
This week we spoke with Hugo, part-time rolling machine extraordinaire and full time artist. Hugo became a part of the team after he helped us out on a one-off job, but he made such a great impression on the team we just had to keep him around!
We asked Hugo a few questions about himself, see his responses below;
What is your biggest passion?
My biggest passion would be Art, especially painting! Everything about it, from viewing artwork and trying to figure out how the masters have achieved certain effects, to learning new techniques and making a painting myself.
How do you spend your time when you're not working at the Drapers Warehouse?
I spend most of my free time in my studio painting/ creating artwork. Otherwise, I am either socialising or skateboarding depending on my mood.
What is your favourite item in your wardrobe?
My favourite item in my wardrobe would have to be this nautical-esque woollen knit jumper that is very colourful (acquired from an opshop). There are a few good hats in there too, including my bucket hat above made from our wool boucle Renoir.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be?
The dream would be to live somewhere in Maui, with a big studio and a good view of the ocean. Close to a kitesurfing spot would be pretty sweet too. I'd love to live that Hawaiian lifestyle and be warm all year round.
Your best advice for anyone creative?
My best advice for anyone creative would be; try and make something everyday, even if you don't feel in the mood. It's all good practice and something great might happen unexpectedly. Also, go to creative events and look or listen to things that inspire you whenever you have the chance, you never know when or where you might find and reel in a great idea.
Your favourite fabric in store right now?
My favourite fabric online at the moment is Puccini Cotton Shirting in the epic butterscotch colourway.
We're obviously a big fan of Hugo and his work. If you would like to see his art, click through to his instagram here and check out the details for his next exhibition.
