Meet the Team - Hootie

Meet the Team; a series dedicated to our incredible staff so you can get to know a little more about those who work behind the scenes (and the counters) to bring you the Drapers you know and love.

Fabric Spotlight: Marvellous Merino

With a new arrival to our knit section, our striped Merino jersey Harry, now seems as good a time as any to talk a little bit about why Merino really is the king of layering, and round up Harry's perfect pattern matches!

Meet the Team - Ria

New to our Drapers Diaries, this week we're kicking off the first ever edition of Meet the Team; a series dedicated to our incredible staff so you can get to know a little more about those who work behind the scenes (and the counters) to bring you the Drapers you know and love.

Our Love for Linen

This week we welcomed our new range of European and Japanese Linens, and they've got us thinking about those outfit staples we have on repeat in our trans-seasonal wardrobes. What better way to celebrate the new collection than with a pattern round-up, and our teams tips for making working with linen easy as pie.

Scrap Busters

The thing we hate the most at Drapers is waste, and nothing feels better than a zero waste make, so we've rounded up a few scrap busting projects to make sure you really get everything out of your meterage. Whether you've got loads of tiny bits or a few off grain pieces, see our favourites ways to use up every inch of your favourite fabric.

Making the Most

We're a week in to our 30-40% off sale and with new fabrics just added, it's time to round up our staff sale picks; so here's the patterns we're using and how we'd wear them.

We're Crushing On Cord

Corduroy is a strong durable fabric most notable for its unique ridged pattern known as cords or ribs formed by cut pile yarn which can be produced in a variety of widths. Often made from cotton or a cotton/polyester blend, corduroy is considered an excellent trans-seasonal fabric due to its breathability, velvet-like appearance and durability.

What to wear in Winter

It's getting a little harder to spring out of bed in the mornings, and since it's almost windshield-defrosting season, we thought it the perfect time to start rounding up what we'll be making as the temperature drops. With a huge range of gorgeous wool coatings, knits, heavy weight cottons and other winter essentials online and in store, click through to see our recommended pattern matches.

Warp or Weft?

Weaving is one of the oldest and most popular methods of textile production. When a pattern, class or tutorial calls for a 'woven fabric', it means any fabric constructed by interlacing two or more sets of yarn to form a two-dimensional woven fabric. The fibre, yarn and weaving structure will all affect the characteristics of a woven fabric. Read on to learn a little more about weave structures.

A love letter to leather.

In celebration of our new collection of Italian leather lamb hides, we're taking a moment to celebrate one of the worlds oldest and most useful textiles, and taking you through a few of our favourite future projects!

What's up with Wool?

Wool is a delicate natural protein fibre. It offers wonderful warmth and moisture-wicking capabilities, making it the perfect trans-seasonal fabric. Even during the warmer months, a summer suiting wool will lift moisture away and allow the skin to breathe. Learn more about wool and how to craft and care for it.
